The MPS Modular Tool System is used on the Sunnen HTB-S Tube Honing Machines, but can also be fitted to other machines. The MPS Honing Heads are stronger than the standard portable hones and can remove material at a faster rate.

The HT-series tube honing machines are the latest in the range of hydraulic cylinder honing machines manufactured by Sunnen. These machines are available in lengths up to 10 metres. (See Honing of Hydraulic Cylinders below for more information).

HB honing heads are used on the HTH and HTC tube honing machines for heavy stock removal in cylinders. These heads are of heavier construction than the MPS hone heads and have significantly larger, stronger hone body and pinion assembly.

There are two types of HB heads available - HB (for through bores) and HB-SL (for blind bores).Diameters range from 76 - 1000 mm for the HB, and 97 - 670 mm for the HB-SL.

Larger diameter extension shafts that don't flex or twist are used to drive these hones.

For superior high-performance, high production bore sizing and finishing, the ML2000 or the ML5000 are your solutions.

Sunnen Power Stroking combined with Automatic Size Control and patended Dual Feed Pressure means better control of bore size, finish and geometry at high production rates.

A major benefit of the ML machines is their ability to handle hard materials efficiently.

Open, blind, heavy, thin-walled, splined and tandem parts acn all be honed using the ML machines.

Setup is fast and easy and is handled from the front of the machine without raising a cover.

Unlike the traditional spring plunger mechanism in the gauging head, the Sunnen gauge uses an exclusive “ball crank” pivot. This system eliminates the wear and “sticking” typical of other gauges when used in harsh workshop environments. All Sunnen gauges have carbide gauging points, indexable indicator, shock shields and adjustable centralisers.
