Honing

Honing is an abrasive process, which is designed to improve the accuracy of cylindrical surfaces.

The Sunnen honing process is capable of producing round, straight holes with a degree of accuracy and surface finish. Sunnen honing equipment can be used to size or finish a wide range of diameters from as small as 1.5mm to as large as 1524mm     (0.060” – 60”).

There are ten common bore errors associated with machining, heat treatment, or chucking. Honing can correct these errors with the least amount of material removal.
With Sunnen honing, many bores that would normally take a long time to set up and machine by other means, can be handled quickly and easily.
