On a visit to a U.S. trade show in 1974 Les Watson,
owner of an engine reconditioning workshop in Brisbane
visited the stand of Sunnen Products Company to take
a look at honing equipment. Seeing the advantage of
these machines in his own workshop, Les placed an order
for a number of machines. Twelve months after his initial
purchase he became the sole distributor for Sunnen Products
in Australia.
Interest from other workshops in the equipment that
Les was now able to supply necessitated setting up a
company to market the Sunnen product range, and so in
1978 Watson Specialised Tooling Pty Ltd was established.
Watsons Head Office is still located in Brisbane, and
there are offices in Sydney and Perth, selling to the
Hydraulic, General Engineering, Mining, Aerospace, and
other industries.
Although the Sunnen product line still plays a key role
in the business, there are a variety of other products
that the company has to offer.
